When Jason started his college search, he knew he wanted to attend a university with big opportunities in a close-knit environment. As a fourth-generation Zip and Akron native, Jason had UA on his shortlist from day one. During a campus visit, he saw firsthand how professors offer specialized, one-on-one support to students like at a small college.

While Alyson’s first choice gave her a taste of college life, it didn’t feel like the right fit. She was ready for more and wanted to transfer to a university where she could expand her strong sense of determination and build her work ethic—a place like The University of Akron where she could rise higher.
When Alyson decided to change her major from Pre-Med Kinesiology to International Business, she knew that UA’s College of Business Administration is globally recognized for leadership training, mentoring, and internships. Transferring to UA meant Alyson could gain in-demand, career-ready skills and be closer to home.

When he walked into the Williams Honors College, Joey knew he had found a welcoming community of like-minded peers who share his intellectual curiosity and passion for leadership.
UA offered Joey the best financial aid package, as well as countless ways to get involved and realize his full potential. When Jessica Levya started her college search from her hometown of Chicago, she already knew she wanted to be an anthropology major. She also knew she needed an affordable and safe school. So when she heard about The University of Akron in an email and found their anthropology degree program, she decided to schedule a visit.
While Jessica was also considering universities in Chicago, Philadelphia and Tampa, her visit to UA changed everything. John Maly first heard about The University of Akron when his neighbor decided to enroll in the biomedical engineering program a couple years ago. When making his own college decision, John applied to Penn State, but he was impressed with UA’s highly rated College of Engineering, so he decided to visit.
While he expected an overwhelming campus, John loved the atmosphere, and ultimately, UA offered the best financial package and academic opportunities, including the engineering co-op program, for John.

When he started his college search, Dennis knew he wanted to attend a highly reputed engineering program and explore a new state. His mom mentioned The University of Akron’s notable College of Engineering, and after some research, he narrowed his shortlist down to UA and University of Pennsylvania.
The University of Akron awards automatic, merit-based scholarships. Dennis loved that these funds would help him start, and finish, college strong. He was also able to combine his merit scholarship with the Akron Advantage Award he received as an out-of-state student.
