The University of Akron awards automatic, merit-based scholarships that range from $1,000 to $7,500 per academic year that help you start, and finish, college strong.
We determine eligibility using the materials that you submit along with your admission application. In-state and out-of-state students with a 3.00 GPA or higher may qualify for merit scholarships. UA is test-optional.
As a non-Ohio resident with a 3.00 GPA or higher, you'll receive the renewable $3,000 Akron Advantage Award.
Good news! You will also be eligible to receive an automatic merit scholarship award. Combining the Akron Advantage Award with your merit scholarship can significantly lower the costs of college. UA is test-optional.
Funded by external donors, endowed or private scholarships are awarded to students who meet criteria set by the donors. Criteria may include a history of leadership, community service, financial need, or other personal factors.
Students who meet historically underrepresented criteria, such as location of high school, financial need, economic background, first generation college attendance or other requirements, may be considered for renewable scholarships of up to $3,500.
To be eligible for a scholarship for underrepresented students, you must also have a 3.00 GPA or minimum ACT score of 20 or minimum SAT score of 1020.
Looking for more scholarship opportunities? UA’s colleges and academic departments offer major-specific scholarships to eligible students. Additional scholarships may be available from the Office of Accessibility, ROTC and Alumni Association.
And don’t forget to apply to outside scholarships through your community, church, nearby foundations or employer.
